The Douglas Company was founded by Samuel A. Cohen and his wife Libby, and they’ve been in business for over 80 years. We came across their theater chairs at the 2004 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. These chairs were among those displayed by several other manufactures at the show. We sat in all of them — but these were the only chairs that passed the Butt Test. Most chairs are comfortable when you sit in them for 15 to 20 minutes, but end up making the backs of your knees hurt when sat in for much longer. The Douglas chairs aren’t only the most comfortable chairs we’ve sat in — we also believe they’re among the best built. Douglas backs their chairs up with a lifetime warranty on the frame, spring and mechanism; five years on the cushion; and one year on the fabric.
